ARMRIT vs ARRT in Southern California
Most MRI programs in Southern California use the ARMRIT pathway - meaning you don't need a prior radiology degree. This makes SoCal programs accessible to career changers in 12–18 months. ARRT post-primary programs also exist for existing rad techs looking to add MRI.
California employers (hospitals, outpatient centers, mobile MRI) accept both ARMRIT and ARRT MRI credentials. California CDPH recognizes both pathways for state licensing.

Cost of living in Southern California is high, making financial aid planning especially important. Not all MRI schools are Title IV-eligible (FAFSA), so ask explicitly. Alternatives include state grants, school payment plans, and employer tuition reimbursement.
